Best be careful, you make them realize its not old, and you might have one of them trying to put the moves on you
Its best if they think you're ancient, old, nearly ready to retire
The other day, one of my students (an 8th grade girl) was like, "Are you married??" and I said, "no" of course. She said, "why not???" and I replied, "Ummm because I'm ONLY 23...." I think it kinda embarrassed her because they class kinda giggled when I said that. And then I had to restrain myself from lecturing a class of 8th graders about how contrary to popular belief around here, you don't have to be married with childern by age 20. Seriously. Had to bite my tongue.
They all think I'm *really* old. Everytime they ask and find out how old I am they say something to the effect of "Wow, you don't look....um....that far up in age. You don't look any older than 19..." WHAT?! Even an 18 year old said that one day.
I'm just gonna start responding with, "Dude, 23 is much cooler than 16. Believe me."
Serious sport has nothing to do with fair play. It is bound up with hatred, jealousy, boastfulness, disregard of all rules and sadistic pleasure in witnessing violence. In other words, it is war minus the shooting.

One kid told me he knew where I lived and I said, "Wow! That's a bit stalkerish don't ya think?"

after my spring semester one year I substituted a little, my first day of class I subed for an art teacher after lunch my class was 8th graders. All the little girls were asking me for hugs, one even asked if she could have my phone number, it was hilarious.
He probably would! Considering I live really close to the school though, I'd say it's common knowledge. haha.

My substitution funny would have to be at GC Middle school one year. I had class come in, and after calling roll, and I heard two girls giggling, and caught just a bit of the conversation.
I stood up and said to one of the girls if they knew who I was. Of course she said no. I said you know your grandfather, he is my uncle! Talk about embarassing someone. The class just laughed cause they knew what she had said.
